Arrived at Gatwick at 0810. Long queues at check-in. Couldn't see anyone I knew nor any Atkins labels. Saw Sally Curry (who was in my watch on my first voyave in the Azores) at gate 33 and by coincidence we sat next to each other on the flight. Was well impressed withVirgin Airways. Arrived in St Lucia at 4.25 local time then had 1.5hour transfer to the ship. The island is much like the Dominican republic.
I am B13 and Sally is W13. We are trying to get on the same watch. Very short-handed with only 7 + Watch Leader in my watch. 6 men and me!! Even the Watch Leader is a man. We have 2 people from a whale and dolphin conservation trust on board. They want us to monitor/photograph any we see. There is also a man on board to do a video for the STA (Sail Training Association).
Captain Barbara said we will set sail around midnight on Monday 11th and anchor off one of the bays. When we set sail for home we will head towards the island of Bermuda in the hope of picking up the Westerlies to take us to the Azores - so no Cape Verde/Cannaries or Madiera!!
Meal on board plane was shepherd's pie, on the ship, spag.bol.
